Winthrop -Mr. John W. Gustafson, age 71, of Winthrop, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011 with the love and support of his family by his side.
Born in Norwalk, CT on Sept. 12, 1940, John was the son of the late George and Hannah (Butler) Gustafson. Raised and educated in Norwalk, John was also a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He married the former Sandy Slosson, together the shared the love of their two daughters. After thirty years of service, John retired from Ryder Rental, Tucson, Arizona as one of their diesel mechanics. Shortly after retirement he moved to Massachusetts to be closer to his daughter. Since 2004 he has lived here in the North Country.
John is survived by his children, Jennifer & David Losey - Winthrop, Sherry and & Mark Thurston of Tuscan Arizona, two brothers; Warren and John Gustafson, six grandchildren; Drew, Casey, Cole Thurston, Paige, Erika, and Tyler Losey.
There will be no public services for John W. Gustafson; however the family will celebrate his life privately.

I recently found out that John had passed away. I was his cousin from CT and haven't heard from the family in 30 years. I was sorry to hear about his passing. I remember him as a fun person when he was married to Sandy and before he had any children.
