North Lawrence- Mr. Edward J. McGraw, 81 passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2016. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Ed was born in North Lawrence on August 20, 1935, to the late James F. and Agatha E. (Fleury) McGraw. He was raised and educated locally, attending St. Lawrence Central High School. In August of 1960 Ed married Alice Goodnough at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence. Alice passed away on August 17, 1984. Since 1957 Ed owned and operated E.J. McGraw Excavating and Trucking. He lived and breathed trucks, night and day; it was his true passion. Ed is survived by his long time companion, Ann Salvail, 2 brothers and a sister-in-law: James and Julie McGraw of DeKalb, and Joseph McGraw of North Lawrence, 4 sisters and brothers-in-law: Eileen and Gerald Snyder of Moira, Patricia and Joseph Proulx of Hastings, Joan and Wayne Michaud of Cookeville, TN., and Winifred and Ralph Frary of North Lawrence, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Ed's Funeral Service and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00am at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls. After his services, family and friends are invited to join for a luncheon gathering at the K of C in Brasher Falls. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses of Hospice for their compassion and care given to Ed. Flowers are gratefully declined.
