Wade S. Reynolds

January 1, 1923 — October 25, 2016

Brasher Falls- Mr. Wade S. Reynolds, 92, passed away Tuesday October 25, 2016, at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena comforted by the support and care of his niece and nephews Joyce and Keith Wilkins. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Wade was born on December 14, 1923 in Providence, RI., to the late Leon and Carolyn (Steenburg) Reynolds. He graduated from the Brasher-Stockholm High School in 1942. After graduation Wade served his country in the US ARMY, earning an honorable discharge in 1945. On May 29, 1946 Wade married Margaret Wilkins at the Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton. They shared a blessed and dedicated union of 67 years. Margaret passed away on December 8, 2013. For many years Wade worked maintenance at Immaculate Heart Central School in Watertown. Wade is survived by his 2 children: Miles (Deborah) Reynolds of Orman Beach, FL., and Mary Jo Reynolds of Watertown, 2 grandchildren: Colleen (Clinton) Lewis, and Patrick Reynolds, 2 great-grandchildren: Cailin Lewis and Colin Lewis, and devoted caretakers, his niece and nephew Joyce and Keith Wilkins of Brasher Falls. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Reynolds and his sister Carole Jackson. After his beloved Margaret passed, Wade spent many hours at Joyce and Keith's where he had his own vegetable garden. He shared much of his produce with friends at LBSH in Brasher Falls. He spent many hours working with Keith in the woodshop, building birdhouses, and working on his much loved steel guitars. Wade would sit and watch the birds and animals for hours, always avail with his wit, wisdom and advice, which was priceless because of his many years and experiences in life. He was an absolute treasure to visit with. He loved tractors and cars; he may not have remembered your name but he would always remember the care you drove as, "The Chevy Girl" at Highland Nursing Home can attest to, right to the very end. The advice on flower gardening, memories of long rides, fishing trips, many lunch's together, and manicures and pedicures on the patio will be cherished forever, but Wade's ability to really listen and enjoy anyone's life story will be greatly missed. A special Thank You, to the Nurses and CNA's at Highland Nursing Home, many of you, and you know who you are, went above and beyond with the care, compassion and love you gave Wade. His family will be forever grateful for the time you all spend with him, just listening and being listened to. Following Wade's wishes there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service for Wade and Margaret on Friday November 18th at 3:00pm at Holy Cross Cemetery in Hopkinton with Rev. Jack Downs. For those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions may be made in Wade's honor to the Tri-Town Rescue Squad.
