North Lawrence – McKay J. Cortright-Anderson, 31, entered suddenly into the Presence of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, whom she loves and served on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. McKay was born in Binghamton on August 16, 1985 to Michael and Mary (Wagner) Cortright. She graduated from Binghamton City School and continued her education at SUNY Potsdam, where she earned her Master’s Degree in Special Education. On December 26, 2009, in a special and personal service she married Andrew J. Anderson II. The following year on December 11, 2010, McKay and Drew shared their wedding ceremony and celebration together with their family and friends. She was currently a 4th grade special education teacher at the St. Regis Mohawk School, where she was able to demonstrate compassionate guidance and make learning fun for the students. McKay was extremely fond of owls and butterflies. She is survived by her husband, Drew; her father and stepmother, Michael and Donna Cortright of Port Crane; brother and sister-in-law, Marcus and Jennifer Cortright of Massena; grandparents, James and Priscilla Wagner of Kirkwood; father and mother-in-law, Andrew J. and Colleen Anderson of St. Regis Falls; sister-in-law, Jessica Anderson of Lake Placid, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Always close to McKay’s heart was the memory her mother, Mary Cortright who passed away on August 18th, 2005 and her and sister Hope Cortright who died in infancy. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4pm to 7pm and Saturday from 10 – 11 am, with her funeral services at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sand Hill Cemetery in Dickinson in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to set up a scholarship fund for a graduating senior entering into a Special Education teaching program from the Salmon River Central School District, where she taught.
