Obituary of Theodora Rose
Brasher Falls - Theodora (Babe) Rose passed away peacefully on October 28, 2017. She was born on October 10, 1922 in Massena to Douglas and Bessie (Patraw) Ploof. Babe graduated from Brasher-Stockholm High School in 1941 and later attended nursing school in Cornwall, Ontario. On April 17, 1942 she married Parker W. Rose. Babe worked at Potsdam State while Parker started his teaching career in a one room school house. He later became a long-time principal in the Massena School District. Together they had four children Carolyn, Carl, Marilyn and Barbara.
Parker and Babe spent winters in Stuart, Florida and enjoyed traveling throughout the world. They spent much of their time attending sporting and other events in their grandchildren’s lives. Family and social gatherings were a huge part of their activities.
Babe is survived by her son Carl P. Rose (Michele), daughters Carolyn Wells (Bruce) and Barbara Murray (Stephen).
Grandchildren are Matthew Rose (Stephanie), Rebecca Rose,
Carrie Tyo (Jeff), Stephen, Jason, and Michael (Jennifer) Murray, Amy Hornung (Michael) and Bruce Wells. She is also survived by her brother Gary Ploof (Ann) and sister Bette Williams (Bruce), and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Parker, daughter Marilyn, grandson Daniel Parker Rose, brother Douglas Ploof and sister Pauline Kinney.
At the family's request there will be no calling hours and funeral arrangements will be private with the Hammill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory to the West Stockholm Methodist Church, P. O. Box 184, West Stockholm, NY 13696, Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, Inc., 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam, NY 13676, or the Winthrop Cemetery Association, P. O. Box 304, Brasher Falls, NY 13613.
The Rose family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at LBSH where our mother had resided for the last three months. We will be forever grateful for the attentiveness and love our mother received from all of you. We would also like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care for everything that you did for her and for us.
