Brasher Falls- Mr. Donald W. Premo, 74, passed away Thursday morning, January 19, 2017 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena surrounded by his family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Don was born in Ogdensburg on November 26, 1942 to the late John and Clara (Robinson) Premo. He graduated from Hugh C. Williams High School in Canton. He married Carol Lee Margaret Fadden on April 20, 1963 in Canton. They shared blessed union of 40 years together until the time of her passing on July 7, 2003. He proudly served his country in the US ARMY from 1961-64 and after receiving an honorable discharge Don enlisted into the reserves until 1967. After his service, Don worked as a mechanic at Mace Motors in Canton for a short time. In 1968 Don began working at ALCOA in Massena, becoming a 25 year club member and retiring in 2004. Together with his family Don enjoyed trips to New Hampshire for camping and especially for NASCAR. He just loved racing. Whether watching on TV or in person he never missed a race; and if he wasn't watching a race, you could often find him happily puttering with things in his garage. Later in life as the family grew, Don's affection for his grandchildren grew. He was always delighted to see them and as he knew cuddles were just around the corner. Don always would say "the little ones could do no wrong". He is survived by his children: Donald and Linda Premo of Brasher Falls, and Darren Premo of NH.; 4 grandchildren, Thomas Premo, Brandawn Kozilsky, Brittany Premo, and Wyatt Premo; 3 great-grandchildren, Blake, Logan, and Donovan; his companion, Carolyn Cota of Ogdensburg; siblings, Katherine Upchurch, John and Lolli Premo, Michael Premo, Susan and Larry Masters, Mary and Robert Robert, Debra McEathron, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Don was predeceased by his son, Thomas W. Premo and a sister Lois Sparks. In keeping with Don's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Services will be held on Friday May 26th at 1 pm at St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls. For those wishing to express an act of kindness or sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
