Grace Jenkins passed away early Sunday morning, June 19th at her home in Winthrop, after a 2 year battle with cancer. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Howard Jenkins Jr., a daughter Brenda Montgomery, brothers and sisters Blanche Gunn, Howard Sochia, James Sochia, Edith Reagan, Anna Tharrett, Gilbert Sochia, Elroy Sochia, and Elsie Sochia.
She is survived by her children Beth Dabbaghchi of Columbus, OH, Bonnie and Walter Cole of Forest Park, IL, Bernadette Jenkins and Jeff Szot of Potsdam, NY, Bruce and Brenda Jenkins of West Stockholm, Bridget and Michael Flinn of Nashua, NH, and Brad and Heather Jenkins of Tunbridge, VT, 16 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters and brothers Laura Benedict of Albany, Eli Sochia of Parishville, Wilfred Sochia of Winthrop, Katherine Susice of Ransomville, NY, Eldora Tharrett of Dickinson Center, Timmie Sochia of Parishville, Adele Sochia of St. Regis Falls, and Mary Witherell of Parishville, NY.
She was born to Edson and Hattie Sochia on July 30, 1931. She was baptized and later confirmed at St. Ann's Church in St. Regis Falls in 1944. She graduated from Parishville School in 1950. She married Howard E. Jenkins,Jr in 1951.
She expressed her love of the arts and nature through gardening, quilting, painting, basket-weaving, bird-watching, and spinning wool. In addition to her many talents, Grace will be remembered by her family and friends for strength, wisdom and kind ways.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Grace will be Tuesday morning at 10 am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls, followed by burial in Jenkins Neighborhood Cemetery in Winthrop.
