St. Regis Falls – SFC Sam Edward Bradford, 71, passed away unexpectedly at his home on March 19, 2021. Sam was born on March 31, 1949 in Memphis, TN, son of the late Earlie and May (Bryant) Bradford, Sr. In 1967, he graduated from Woodstock High School in Memphis and on August 30 he enlisted in the U. S. Army. He served his country, doing 2 tours in Vietnam and retired after 21 years of service at the rank of SFC/E7. He went to work at Bare Hill Correctional Facility in Malone, NY, as a Small Engine Repair Instructor until his retirement. A marriage to Dorothy Lou Bledsoe, which was blessed with his children, ended in divorce. Sam was an avid Dallas Cowboy’s fan, enjoyed golfing and took pleasure in the camaraderie as a member of the American Legion. Sam is survived by his children: Kevin and Holly, Randy, and Sam Bradford, Jr. all of St. Regis Falls, James and LaQuila Bradford of Memphis and Christie Bradford of Savannah, NY; his brothers and sisters: Pauline and Billy Holliday of Memphis, TN, Hattie Bradford of Jackson, TN, Earlie Bradford, Jr. of Memphis, TN, Reuben and Corrine Bradford of Memphis, TN, Charlie Bradford of Nashville, TN, Frank; and Sarah Bradford of Chattanooga, TN; many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers: Nathaniel and MacClester Bradford. His local family will honor his life with a time of visitation at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls on Friday from 3 to 5 pm.
