St. Regis Falls – Adam R. Cox, 33, passed away unexpectedly, June 28, 2017. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls, where visitation will be held Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 pm at St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls followed by burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Adam was born on December 28, 1983 in Saranac Lake, son of Ralph E. Cox and Irene M. Cascanette. He graduated from St. Regis Falls High School and went on to take college courses at North Country Community College. He became a Correctional Officer, working at the Franklin Correctional Facility in Malone.
Adam was very committed to his community. He joined the St. Regis Falls Fire Department and with his dedication earned the title of First Assistant Chief (Car 150-01). He made many lifelong friends on his watch. He is presently the President of the St. Regis Falls Sportsmen’s Club, who at a young age, was admired for his good and kind nature. His ambition led him to the position of Union Steward for his union, NYSCOPBA. He was on a mission to improve the working conditions and safety of it's members.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and riding his Harley. Adam enjoyed singing, dancing, watching music videos, but especially listening to Johnny Cash. He would be seen accompanied by his canine companion, Gunner, around town and hiking. At home, his feline named Lucy would be there for him when they returned. Adam was family oriented, with a compassionate heart and caring soul. He held a great love and admiration for his parents and sisters, who will all cherish his memory.
Adam is survived by his parents, Irene Cox of St. Regis Falls and Ralph Cox of St. Regis Falls, his sisters, Heather and Daniel Rondeau of St. Regis Falls and Laura and Richard Chapman of Dickinson Center, his maternal grandmother, Helen Cascanette of St. Regis Falls and his paternal grandmother, Joyce Cox of Dickinson Center, nieces and nephews, Daniel Rondeau III, Brittany Threlkeld, Kerrigan Rondeau, Caydence Rondeau, Noah Rondeau, Luke Chapman, Anna Chapman and Cole Chapman, his canine companion, Gunner and his feline companion, Lucy. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Bernard Cascanette, his paternal grandfather, Ernest Cox and his cousin, Sierra Riley.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Adam’s memory to the St. Regis Falls Fire Department, St. Jude’s Children Hospitals or St. Ann’s Church.
