Massena- Ms. Betty A. Johnston, 68, peacefully passed away Tuesday March 14, 2017 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena, surrounded by the comfort of her children. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Betty was born in Massena on March 22, 1948 to Kenneth and Lena (Sova) Yaddow. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from Brasher Falls Central School. Over the years Betty worked for many different business and retail shops, most recently including the P-n-C in Potsdam and Massena.
In her leisure time Betty enjoyed playing bingo and the calming stress relief of adult coloring books. In earlier years she was a member of the Massena Bowling League.
Betty is survived by her children: Robert and Suzette Bell of North Carolina, William Bell of Massena, Linda Kellogg and her companion Clint Villnave of Massena, and Jason and Michelle Stark of Indiana; her mother, Lena Yaddow of Brasher Iron Works; 8 grandchildren, and 1 great-granddaughter; 2 sisters: Blanche French of Constable and Ruth Bissonette of Brasher Iron Works; a brother Ronnie Yaddow of Utica, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth, and her brother Kenneth Yaddow.
In keeping with Betty's wishes there will be no services at this time.
For those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's honor to the Boston Children's Hospital.
