Tupper Lake- Mr. Bruce A. Richards, 49, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday March 19, 2016. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Bruce was born on April 29, 1966 to Douglas and Mabel (Jenkins) Richards. He was raised and educated locally, attending St. Lawrence Central High School. Bruce has always worked construction and for the past 16 years he worked as the foreman for Tom & Susan Lawson/Adirondack Club & Resort in Tupper Lake.
Bruce had a personality like none other. Although he could be stubborn and tough, he was a kind person who was there for anyone who needed help or advice. Friends and family alike looked up to Bruce as their mentor, father figure, and their friend. He helped a lot of people in his community of Tupper Lake and anyone along the way for that matter. His daughter Brittany was his pride and joy and he always supported her endeavors and was very proud of her accomplishments. He also was very supportive of his extended family and friends; being present to their needs and always excited to share in any outdoor fun and activities. Bruce enjoyed four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, and hanging out with his grandchildren.
He was a member of the Piercefield Fire Department and the Township 19 Club in Tupper Lake.
Bruce is survived by his daughter; Brittany Richards and her companion Evan Dechene of Tupper Lake, his father, Douglas Richards of North Lawrence, his siblings: Kathy and Wayne Hubbard of Bangor, Karen and Steven Salls Jr. of North Lawrence, Pam Johnson and her companion Terry Joanette of Colchester, VT., Steven and Dana Richards of Harker Heights, TX., and Lisa and Tim Wheeler of St. Regis Falls, and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, his extended family, and friends.
Always close to his heart is the memory of those who predeceased Bruce, his mother Mabel H. Richards and his brother Vic Richards.
Visitation will be Thursday at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls from 2-4 & 6-8. Bruce’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be Friday at 11:00am at the funeral home with Certified Celebrant Julia O’Brien. Burial will take place at Sand Hill Cemetery in Dickinson at a later date.
