North Lawrence - C. Donald "Don" Chase,83, peacefully passed away on March 1, 2024, at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls where visitation will be held Wednesday March 6th from 4 - 6 pm with a closing prayer service at 6PM. The burial will take place at Mound Hill Cemetery in the spring.
Don was born on April 9, 1940, in Newcomb, NY to the late Theodore and Eva (Dame) Chase. He attended St. Regis Falls Central School, joined the US Navy, earned his GED, and was honorably discharged in 1960.
Don married Nancy J. Garvey at the Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton on October 28, 1961. They shared a blessed union for 53 years. Nancy passed away on March 10, 2015.
He worked many years at Reynolds Metals as a pot room supervisor. Don dedicated himself to his work, leaving a lasting impact on all those he worked with. He retired in May of 1996.
Throughout his life, Don found joy in the simple pleasures; he cherished The Chase Family tradition of gathering at Buck Pond and Wakonda for camping trips, as well as spending hours hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart, filling his days with love and laughter.
He was a lifelong member of the Madawaska Hunting Club and actively participated in the Weller Mountain Fish and Game Club and the St. Regis Falls Sportsman's Club. Additionally, his commitment to faith was evident through his membership at Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton.
He is survived by his family; children, Dean and Annie Chase of Newport, RI., Mark and Terri Chase of Knoxville, TN., Dawn and Roy Lawerence of Waddington, and Eva and Malcolm Fye of Dickinson Center; grandchildren, Caleb (Erin) Chase, Colin Chase, Christian Chase, Nicki Massengill, Josh Ginsburg, Ashley (Cager) Mackaravitz, Jessica (Jake) Wheeler, Rylee Lawrence, Delanie Lawrence, Malcolm (Brittany) Fye, Hayley (Mike Ellis) Fye, Kaitlin (Robert) Brady, Brayden (Dalys) Fye, and several great grandchildren.
Survivors also include his brother, Neil Chase of Scotia, NY.; sister, Anne-Marie Friello of FL., and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Three brothers, Edmond, Wayne, and Theodore "Duke" also predecease him.
