Brasher Falls, NY – Donald F. Deshane, 78, peacefully passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Massena Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility, Massena, NY with his family at his bedside. In following with Donald’s wishes, his family will honor his life privately. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to the care and direction of Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, NY
Donald was born on January 18, 1942 in Brasher Falls, son of the late Frank and Esther (Gale) Deshane. He married Doris J. Ward in Bombay on July 14, 1959, with whom he shared a loving union of over 61 years and together they raised 5 children.
Donald worked in many fields over his lifetime, as a young man, he worked for some of the local farmers, drilling wells for Lewis Well Drilling, was a foreman for Ballard Construction for many years, worked as a Logger and wood cutter, and at one time he was a cook at the Bear’s Den. Donald’s favorite interests included hunting and fishing and he had a true passion for motorcycles, horses and the outdoors. Donald cherished his family time with his loved ones, especially one on one. Donald had a special talent for music. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing for his family and friends, and most enjoyed serenading his beloved wife, Doris.
Donald is survived by his wife, Doris; his sons, Wayne Deshane of Westville, William and Lisa Deshane of Massena; his daughter, Patricia Browning of Cleveland, OH; his siblings, Dale Deshane and Patricia Gray of Brasher Falls, Marlene (Danny) White of Westville, his sisters-in-law, Penny and Peggy Deshane, both of Brasher Falls; 12 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Donald was predeceased by two children, Donald Deshane, Jr., and Marilyn Shene and son in law Bobbie Shene; siblings, Gordon, Randall and Steven Deshane, and two siblings, Susan Rae and Joseph who died in infancy. He was also predeceased by Sisters-in-Law, Janet Deshane and Theresa Deshane and a Brother-In-Law, Richard Gray
