Eileen Gibbons

Oswego/Brasher Falls - Eileen C. Gibbons, 89, formerly of Phoenix NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2024. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Born on April 3, 1935, in Massena, Eileen is the daughter of the late Charles P. and Anna M. (Hammill) Collins. She was raised and educated locally graduating from St. Joseph's Academy in Brasher Falls. She furthered her education at Central City Business Institute in Syracuse, graduating in 1954. She held a number of secretarial positions throughout her career, most notably at Agway in Dewitt and the Clay Fire Department.

She married Edward J. Gibbons, Jr., on July 18, 1970, sharing a blessed union until his passing on October 13, 1987. She was a communicant of St. Stephen's Church in Phoenix, NY and a member of the Clay Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed games of chance, playing cards, and making people laugh.

Eileen is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marie Gibbons and Makrem Dridi of Paris France, two very special grandchildren, Ramzey and Sofia, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including her "Management Team" - Jane Benton, Caroline and George Dodge, Kara DuPlessis and Mary Lou Hunt - whose company she enjoyed and support she greatly appreciated. She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles M. Collins, Rita Collins, Kathleen "Katie" Collins and Jane Young.
