Nicholville - Erma A. Michaud, 70, entered into rest Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at her home surrounded by her family. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop.
Erma was born December 8, 1940, in Moira, NY the daughter of Kenneth and Catherine (St. Hilaire) Sweet. She was a 1958 graduate of St. Lawrence Central School. Erma married Claude Joanette, he passed away in 1961. Later she married Willard Votra, the couple later parted. In 1988 in the town of Hopkinton by Justice Shorty Taylor she united into marriage with Roy Michaud, together they made their home in Nicholville. She was one of the founders of the Nicholville Volunteer Fire Department bull head feed. Erma was blessed with the admirable qualities of optimism and perseverance which motivated her to be a true warrior. Her outgoing personality won her admiration of many friendships, and her family fabric was woven with concern, patience, affection and respect for the people she loved.
Erma is survived by her husband Roy; her children which she adored, Terry Joanette and his companion Pam Johnson of Colchester Vermont, Brenda & George Campbell, Tommy and Becky Votra, Monica Deragon, Timmy & Deborah Votra, all of Nicholville, William Votra and his companion Amy Jenny of Hopkinton, Gregory Michaud of Lake Placid, Lori Michaud and her husband Gerald Gibson of Hopkinton.
She also leaves three sisters Donna and her husband Ivan Lalonde of Brasher Falls, Patricia and her husband Leland Drake of Nicholville, and Pamela and her husband Robin McLaughlin of Lawrenceville; along with sixteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson Jordan Campbell, and three brothers James, Donald and Jeffery.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Erma's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Friday at 9:00 at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Mound Hill Cemetery, Nicholville.
