Eugene F. Lamay

September 30, 1942 — June 19, 2019

Massena – Eugene F. LaMay, 76, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 19, 2019. Born on September 30, 1942 in Bombay to the late George D. and Margaret LaMay, Eugene is survived by his children, Trudie LaMay, Eugene LaMay, Roberta Catalano and Heather Schirtz (Jack); brother, Adrian LaMay (June); grandchildren, Cory Catalano, Taylor Brown, Ericka LaMay, Alyssa Catalano, Riley Brown, Michael LaMay, Skyler Brown; great-granddaughter, Aubriella Catalano, all of whom he was immensely proud of. He will also be deeply missed by his dear friend, John Reynolds. Eugene was pre-deceased by his two brothers, Lewis and Edgar LaMay, and his infant granddaughter, Rebecca LaMay.

Eugene graduated in 1960 from St. Lawrence Central School in Brasher Falls. Four years later, he enlisted in the United States Army and served proudly for two years during the Vietnam war. In 1966 he was discharged and began work at ALCOA. Eugene had a tremendous work ethic that he carried with him through his 36 years of dedicated service. In 2002, he retired as a Millwright from the company. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with friends, woodworking, fishing, and bird watching.

Friends and family are invited to a catholic mass and burial, which will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Church in Brasher Falls at 11:00am. Entombment will follow in the parish cemetery.
