Norwood – Floyd R. Deleel, 85 passed away Tuesday at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Floyd was born in Massena on December 26, 1935, son of the late Alfred and Edna (Jacob) Deleel. On August 20, 1955, he married J. Nora Martell at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls, sharing a blessed union of 66 years. They owned and operated Deleel’s Country Store in Norwood.
A man of devout faith, Floyd shared his fellowship at the Knapps Station Community Church and with the Men’s Group. He was a member of the Norfolk Rod and Gun Club, Senior Citizens and at one time was a Little League Coach. He was a kind, honorable man, rooted in loving God and his family.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Nora; their children, Michael and Christine Deleel of Saranac Lake, Matthew and Lori Deleel of Norfolk, Mark and Linda Deleel of Lockport, April Deleel Banach of Norwood and Robin and Steve Boutot of Massena; a brother, Alfred Deleel of Richville; a sister Ann Webster of Norwood; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a great granddaughter, Taryn Deleel; brothers, Robert, Ralph, and Charles; sisters, Catherine Martell, Jane Francher, and Ellen Gaines.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29th at Knapps Station Community Church in Norwood, from 10 am to 11 am followed by his funeral service and Celebration of Life. Burial will follow at Brookdale Cemetery.
