Helen Kathleen Locy

Lawrenceville – Helen Kathleen “Kay” Locy, 88, passed away, Friday, November 9, 2018 at the St. Regis Nursing Home in Massena.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, where her family will receive friends Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm.  At the conclusion of visitation, a service Celebrating her Life will be held.  Burial will be Wednesday at 10 am at Hillcrest Cemetery in North Lawrence, next to her husband, Murray.

Kay was born on March 27, 1930 in Lawrenceville, daughter of the late Kenneth Dwight and Jessie May (Gibson) Clark and attended Parishville-Hopkinton High School.  On December 30, 1946, she married Murray James Locy at Nicholville United Methodist Church with Rev. Roy Scouten officiating.  They shared a blessed union over 38 years until his passing on December 8, 1985.  Their love for one another and their family was always evident and cherished by all.

From 1954 to February 1965, Kay and Murray operated Locy’s General Store in North Lawrence. She then went to work at SUNY @ Potsdam and Neisner’s and was a Senior Account Clerk for NYS Education Department, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation from July 1966 to July 1986.

She was a member of the N. Lawrence United Methodist Church, Lawrenceville Fire Dept. Auxiliary, Tuesday and Wednesday Bowling League, Wednesday morning Senior Citizens Bowling League, Brushton-Moira Senior Citizen Board, the Surf and Turf Shuffleboard League and an Election Board Inspector.  She enjoyed golf, shuffleboard, traveling and camping.

Kay is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Judy Locy of Massena and Jerry and Sharon Locy of Norfolk, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one brother, Lynn K. Clark and two sisters, Beverly A. Rust and Patricia Carman Jones.
