Herbert D. "Herbie" Waldruff

Potsdam - Herbert D. Waldruff Jr., "Herbie", 75, passed away on January 11, 2025, in Massena at the North Country Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility. In following his wishes, his family will honor his life privately. Arrangements are entrusted with Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

Herbie was born on November 9, 1949 in Massena, son of Herbert D. and Annie E. (LaMay) Waldruff. After graduation from St. Lawrence Central School in 1968, he served his country in the U.S. Army. A marriage to Linda Lounsbury, blessed him with a son, Herbert D. Waldruff III.

Herbie completed an apprenticeship program at Pratt-Whitney in Connecticut. Later, he retired from Overhead Door in New Jersey. He enjoyed tinkering with mechanics, often doing his own vehicle repairs and restoring old cars. Herbie enjoyed country music and dancing, often traveling to Massena, Norwood, Potsdam and Heuvelton to listen to live local bands.

He is survived by his son, Herbert Waldruff III and a grandson, Herbert Waldruff IV of Kalispell, Montana, his life-partner, Betty Tassie of Potsdam, his mother, Annie VanKennen of Massena, a sister, Charlotte and Ed Misiaszek, of Waddington and Middleburg FL, a brother, Dale and Terry Waldruff, of Canton. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert Waldruff Sr.
