Horace M. Ross

Lawrenceville - Horace M. Ross, 83, passed away Saturday morning, May 5, 2012, at the Highland Nursing Home in Massena. Local arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Mr. Ross was born on April 11, 1929 in Lawrenceville, son of the late Lawrence M. and Sarah E. (Griffin) Ross. He served his country in the U. S. Army, during the Korean War. For many years, he owned and operated Ross's General Store in Moira. Horace married Cecile Tolbert, who passed away June 8, 2008. He is survived by a step-daughter and son in law, Katie and Ed Watts of Elgin, SC, two sisters; Florence Ross of Lawrenceville and Jane Ross of Fredericksburg, VA, two brothers; Howard and Marie Ross of Malone and Lawrence and Paulette Ross of Florida, nieces and nephews. One infant sister, Josephine Ross and three brothers, Corbin, Charles and Robert, also predeceased him. There will be no calling hours; graveside services will be May 14th at 11am in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Bethune, South Carolina.
