On December 28, 2024, Jacqueline Marie Hourihan went to heaven, with her children by her side. Jackie was born on July 9, 1954, the daughter of late Leo J Hourihan Jr. and Charolette B McGibbon Hourihan. Jackie was born in Massena and raised on the farm in North Lawrence, and she always was on an adventure. Jackie graduated from St. Lawrence Central High School in 1972. After graduation she worked at Wards Hotel until her marriage to Fred Cockayne who blessed her with her oldest son, Shaun, which ended in divorce. After her divorce she went back to work at Wards and eventually married Dennis Moody, from which she was blessed with her son Jeffery and daughter Chrissy. That marriage ended in divorce.
Jackie was a devoted mother, grandmother and aunt. Besides the unwavering love for her children, cooking was her favorite hobby. She battled cancer several times over her lifetime and always came out on top. She was the toughest woman anyone will ever know. Jackie's latest diagnosis was more than her body could take. She didn't give up; her physical body just could not repair itself this time.
Jackie is survived by her sons Shaun (Heather) Cockayne of Winthrop, Jeffery Moody of Brasher Falls and daughter, Chrissy Moody (Brandon Cayea) of Winthrop. Sisters, Patricia Hourihan (Robert Lucey) of Massena, Brenda (Richard) LaVare of Helena, Sue Anne Hourihan (Larry Sheets), North Lawrence brother Larrie Patirck Hourihan of North Lawrence and Grandchildren, Brady Cockayne, Kelsey Cockayne, Trenton and Harlan Cayea, Madison and Daniel Mahady and a great grandson, Auto Hutton and great granddaughter, Emmaline Mahady and several nieces and nephews.
Jackie was preceded by her parents Leo and Charlotte Hourihan, brothers Shawn and Leo Hourihan lll and a nephew Buddy Shorette and sister-in-law Mia Sheldon Hourihan.
Services are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home. At her request, services are private for her family. There is a celebration of life at the American Legion in Winthrop on January 3, 2024, at 4:30 pm
Donations may be sent in honor of Jackie to the National Cancer Society and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of NY.
