Janet M. Deshane

Brasher Falls- Mrs. Janet Marie (LaShomb) Deshane, 67, passed away April 28, 2015. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Born July 1, 1947 in Massena, she was the daughter of Mildred and Walter LaShomb. Jan was raised and educated locally; graduating from St. Lawrence Central High School. She was married to her soul mate Dale R. Deshane of Brasher Falls, on September 12, 1964. They celebrated their 50th anniversary last fall. Jan loved her family above all else and lived for the small rewards that only a matriarch truly appreciates. She was a seamstress, avid reader and enjoyed painting, quilting and crocheting. Her favorite career was as a hairdresser. She fulfilled her life dream when she owned and operated hair salon. Prior to that she worked for Tru-Stitch footwear and maintained the family business records for many years. She is survived by her husband Dale, two daughters: Kay and Keith Mossow of Port Richey, FL., and Karen and Chris Fukes of Lowville, four grandchildren: Kristie Mossow Jones of Ellenton, FL., Kirk and Candice Mossow of Massena, Kandis Mossow and Jen McCormick of Lehigh Acres ,FL., and Cameron Fukes of Lowville, five great grandchildren: Nakrie Jones, Adrian Jones, Coral Thomas, Carley Mossow and Neal Mossow, a brother Gary and Patty LaShomb of Ballston Spa, and a sister, Patricia and Edward LaDue of Hamlin; survivors also include, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers and one sister. In keeping with Jan’s wishes, there will be no calling hours and a small graveside service with immediate family will be held at their convenience.
