Brasher Falls - Karl B. Grow, 67, passed away Friday morning (Aug. 19, 2011) at AMC-Uihlein in Lake Placid. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Karl was born on June 7, 1944 in Potsdam, son of the late Bernard R. and Jeanne M. Gauthier Grow. He graduated from St. Lawrence Central in 1962 and from Paul Smith's College in 1964. In 1968, he married Maxine Tiernan, which ended in divorce. Karl's expertise was bridge building; working for Germanetti & Ryan, Morrison & Knudsen, Murname, and Barry, Bette & Laduke, retiring in 1998. He was a talented woodworker, who also enjoyed hunting and gardening. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Brasher Falls. He is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Carrie Jeanne and Scott Rogers and Francine and Jamie Newtown; his grandchildren, Stephanie Rogers, Elizabeth Rogers, Benjamin Rogers and Gwendolyn Newtown; his siblings, Connie and James West, Janet and Robert Dyer, Katie and William McCormick, Mary Grow, Margie and Dennis Avery, Nan and Kim Griffith, and Daniel and Barbie Grow; his step-siblings, Sandra Lafave and David Danielson, Joe and Diane Lafave and Judy and John Ploof. Following Karl's wishes, there will be no calling hours; a Memorial Service will be held Monday at noon at Sacred Heart Church in Massena. Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls. Those wishing to do so, please consider donations in Karl's memory to the American Diabetes Association, 110 Lomond Ct., Lomond Office Park, Utica, NY 13502.
