Winthrop – Keith A. George, 90, passed away at Canton Potsdam Hospital on Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Keith was born on July 26, 1934, in Potsdam, son of the late Albert and Hazel (Alguire) George. He entered the U.S. Army in January 1956, serving as Military Police, and honorably discharged in December 1957. On May 9, 1959, he married Jennie L. Lazore, in Nicholville with Pastor Wilbert Hull, who was officiating. They shared a blessed union for over 56 years, until her passing on October 10, 2015. Keith worked at Kraft Foods in Canton until his retirement. 

He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and skiing, enjoyed going to auctions and playing poker.

Surviving Keith are his children; Bryan and Scott George of Hermon, Judy George of Winthrop, and Sally and John Sauve of Massena, his grandchildren; Brandon George, Kevin and Chelsea Blain and Steven Clark, his great grandchildren; Xavier Dykeman, Gunner Blain, Christopher George, Elizabeth Blain, Hudson Blain and Magnolia Blain. He was predeceased by two children, Steven George and Karen George and a granddaughter, Carin Alice Blain.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, where visitation will be held on Thursday from 1 to 4 pm, followed by his funeral service with Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating. He will be buried with his wife in Winthrop Cemetery. Following the service at the funeral home there will be a gathering at the Helena Fire Station.
