Winthrop - Mr. Kenneth C. Smith, 84, passed away on Thursday October 17, 2024, at the North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Massena, NY, with his wife Elaine at his side.

Local arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, NY, where visitation will be held Wednesday October 23, from 2 - 4 PM with a closing prayer at 4:00PM. A luncheon will follow at the Victory Baptist Church in Winthrop, NY.

Kenny was born on December 21, 1939, in Bombay, NY, to the late Chester and Stella (Stone) Smith. He attended St. Lawrence Central school until the 10th grade. Afterwards he worked on various farms in the North Country.

Kenny joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly served his country, achieving the rank of Corporal and receiving the Good Conduct Medal.

He was married to Arlene (Resnick) Smith, who passed away in June 2002.

Kenny worked as an assembler for Market Forge Industries in Everett, MA. Retiring after 39 years of employment.

On July 2, 2004, Kenny married Elaine Goodrich at the gazebo in Potsdam, NY. Their bond was a testament to the enduring power of love and partnership.

Kenny was known for his friendly demeanor, always ready with a smile and a kind word for those around him.

He was a valued member of the Marine Corps League in Massena, NY. His dedication and commitment to his country and community will always be remembered. Kenny dearly missed his Marine buddies as he spoke of them often.

He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine, his children, Richard and Diana Smith of Colorado Springs, CO, Robert and Melissa Smith of Wakefield, MA, Pamela and Neil Victor of Lynn, MA, Patricia Smith of Chelsea, MA, and Lauri and George Bourikas of Braintree, MA, 12 grandchildren, several great - grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.

Besides his parents and first wife, Kenny was also predeceased by his brothers, James and Robert Smith.

A funeral service honoring Kenneth will be held in Chelsea, MA at the Torf Funeral Chapel on Tuesday October 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM, with his burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Peabody, MA
