Winthrop- Mrs. Lillian M. Walker, 80, passed away in the comfort of her home, Saturday, December 28, 2013 surrounded by the love, and care of her husband Edmund, her family, and hospice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Lil was born in Shelton, CT on November 5, 1933 to the late Stephen and Mary (Zavednak) Plaskon. She was raised and educated locally graduating from Shelton High School.
On January 15 1955, Lillian married Edmund Walker in Amenia, NY. They shared in a blessed union of 58 years built upon faith, dedication, and love. In 1972 Ed and Lil bought a farm in Bombay and relocated to the North Country. It was there they established their real estate business, United Farm Agency, which Ed and Lil owned and operated for over 25 years.
Blessed with a quiet gentle nature, Lil devoted herself fully to raising her family and performing daily tasks with much grace. She was methodical in everything she did and it is clearly evident as Lil made her home her hobby. She took pleasure in gardening, cooking, and loved to dance, especially the polka.
Faith and family were most important to Lillian; she was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bombay and St. Patrick Catholic Church in Brasher Falls, a member St. Patrick Altar Rosary Society, and Massena Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Edmund, her children: Laureen and Garland Benore of Bombay, Edward and Barbara Walker or Lisbon, Diana and Douglas Ventimiglia of Beacon Falls, CT., Kathleen Bennor of Brasher Falls, Christopher Walker of Seymour, CT., and Thomas Walker of East Rochester, 13 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters: Esther Gaidoz of Derby, CT., Eva (George) Gnall, Olga Draus, and Rose Soncarato, all of Shelton, CT., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lillian was predeceased by her brother, and 2 sisters: Andrew Plaskon, Ann Walker, and Mary “Mae” Kuzia.
