Loraine E. Wilson

Winthrop – Loraine E. Wilson, 84, passed away at her home, Thursday, September 24, 2015. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Loraine was born on August 25, 1934 in Potsdam, daughter of the late Philip H. and Alice (Wilson) Witherell. She graduated from Parishville High School in 1952 and on August 29, 1952 she married Frederick G. Wilson at the Methodist Parsonage in Parishville. Together they shared 42 years in a very devoted and happy union, until his passing on August 12, 1995. She was an active member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in North Bangor, where she served as pianist. Her life centered on her family and home. She tended to the farm chores daily, giving the animals a healthy environment too. Loraine enjoyed 4-wheeling, playing the piano and Facebooking. She is survived by her son Michael and his companion, Helene of Winthrop, three grandchildren, Timothy Benware of Ft. Edward, Matthew Benware of St. Regis Falls and Sheri Wilson of Nicholville, three great grandchildren, Shayne Benware, Calvin Benware and Kevin Benware, her siblings, Joyce peck of Syracuse, Philip Witherell of Central Square and Donald Witherell of Gouverneur, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Frederick, she was also predeceased by her daughter Lois Benware on April 4, 2001 and her sister, Mary Kinnear on December 3, 2010. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Loraine's funeral service will be Tuesday at 11am at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 2267 St. Hwy 11B, North Bangor, NY. Burial will follow in Hopkinton-Ft. Jackson Cemetery in Hopkinton.
