Malcolm Richard Chapman of Nicholville, NY passed away peacefully on June 4th in his home surrounded by family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in
Winthrop.
Born in Hartford, CT in 1928, Malcolm is survived by his devoted partner Donna Schaab and his beloved children Samuel Chapman and spouse Jane Woodward-Chapman of Pleasant Hill, MO, Leigh Chapman of Nicholville, NY, Jeanne Chapman-Miller and spouse John Miller of Buffalo, NY and Suzanne Chapman-Garcia and spouse Alex Garcia of Maple Shade, NJ. Malcolm also leaves behind four grandchildren, Nicole Clark, John and Juliette Miller and George Chapman-Forth.
Malcolm was an avid golfer, sailor, skier and dancer. He was a great lover of the Adirondack Park and most especially his home in Nicholville. Malcolm was an accomplished carpenter whose beautiful woodwork and buildings live on in his memory. One of Malcolm's great pleasures in life was mentoring young adults. Malcolm was an animal lover and was inseparable from his faithful companion, Stix. Malcolm retired from Grumman Aerospace, Bethpage, N.Y. as an Aeronautical Engineer. He remained in the Aerospace industry working with both Fairchild Republic and Sierra Research. During his career he was proud to be a part of the E2-C Hawkeye, F-14 Tomcat, Apollo Moon missions, and Space Shuttle projects. Malcolm served our country during World War II as an Aviation Technician with the United States Navy.
Friends and family are invited to join us in a celebration of Malcolm's life this Wednesday June 6th from 4:30pm - 7:30pm at the Riverview Restaurant in Brasher Falls. There will be a brief memorial service at 5:30pm and a light buffet will be served.
