Sanfordville- Marjorie Genevieve (Bronson) White, 89, passed away after a long illness, on Friday, June 21st, at the home of her daughter, Ann, in Brasher Falls. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Marge was born on July 27th, 1923, to Harry and Mable (Fefee) Bronson of Norwood, NY. She was one of 13 children. The families were long-time residents of West Stockholm.
In 1947 she married Raymond E. White, raising five children at the family home near Sanfordville. She was known as an accomplished baker, homemaker, and possessed a wry sense of humor. Her vegetable gardens were legendary and her skills as a seamstress were much in demand. Her husband, Raymond, passed away in July of 1998.
She is survived by a brother, Loren, of West Stockholm; her five children: Raymond and Jackie, Winthrop; Mike and Patty, Sanfordville; Marilyn and Richard Boteler, Fairfax Station, VA; Dale and Franchesca, Evergreen, CO, and Ann and Lee Hickok, Brasher Falls; a granddaughter, Alaina and TJ Goodrich, Winthrop, and a great-granddaughter, Ayla Rose Goodrich.
Visitation is planned for Monday, June 24th, 4 to 7pm at Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. A Celebration of Life and Funeral Service for Marjorie will be Tuesday, June 25th at 11 am at the West Stockholm United Methodist Church, 36 County Route 57 in West Stockholm. Graveside services will follow at Winthrop Cemetery in Winthrop.
In lieu of flowers, Marjorie’s wishes are that contributions be made to the West Stockholm United Methodist Church, where she was a member since 1943, c/o 28 Main Street, Potsdam, NY 13676.
Thanks to all of the thoughtful people who spent time with Mom over the last months; she enjoyed the company and the care of all of you. Special thanks to Tracy, Linda, Muriel, Andrea, Kim, Amy, Sheila and Chaplain John from Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley. We have seen why you were rated one of the top 100 Hospices in the country. We also would like to acknowledge three amazing women. Leisa, Shauna and Ellen; you not only are the best caregivers around but Mom considered you family. Thank you.
