Marlene E. Burnett

Marlene Burnett, 82, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2024,unexpectedly at her home in North Lawrence, NY.

 Marlene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born on February 8, 1942, in Potsdam, NY, daughter of the late Merwyn and Mabel(LaBrake) Newton, and graduated from St. Lawrence Central in 1959. She married Richard D. Burnett on August 28, 1965, at Brasher Falls United Methodist Church. Marlene lived her entire life in the Tri-Town area. She retired from Kraft Foods after 22 years and then went on to work several more at Michelle Audio. She enjoyed traveling, Red Hat Events and her cousin's luncheons. 

Marlene is survived by her husband, Richard Burnett, a son and daughter-in-law, David and Tari Burnett, a grandson, Nathaniel Burnett, her brother, Robert Newton, sisters-in-law, Barbara Burnett, Carolyn Jones, Ella Jane Burnett, Sandy Burnett, and brothers-in-law, Donald Burnett and Gary Jones, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Marlene is preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, Gloria Newton, and a brother-in-law, Victor Burnett. 

Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop on Saturday, November 30th from 1:30 to 3:30pm, immediately followed by a service provided by Chris Remmick. A private burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in North Lawrence. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Marlene's name to Maple Grove Cemetery Association, 1952 State Highway 11C, North Lawrence, NY 12967.
