Maurice H. Potter

January 1, 1936 — February 11, 2014

Maurice Henry Potter, a man who smiled at the world, took everything in stride, and loved everyone for who they were, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 11th, 2014 after a long battle with cancer. His presence lit up a room and filled it with contagious laughter. Always with a joke in his back pocket, he made the most out of life. His well-tanned skin reflected his love of the outdoors. Most of his time was spent with his love of family, skiing, books, playing accordion, drawing, canoeing, and morning trips to Coffee Club. Maurice was an amazing husband and father, leaving no regrets behind. He brought joy and a sense of comfort with his soft voice and booming personality. Maurice’s legacy of happiness will continue with his wife of 32 years Lynn Barney Potter, daughter Melody Potter Metzger, son-in-law Patrick Metzger, daughter Marina Potter and her boyfriend, Joshua Paul, son, Mark Potter, his father-in-law Donald Barney and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. His mother, Pearl Potter Palmer predeceased him. Services will be held on Friday, February 14th in St. Regis Falls at Hammill Funeral Home from 11:00–3:00 and the funeral services following at the St. Regis Falls Free Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Regis Falls Adult Center and Hope Lodge of Burlington, Vermont. Memories and condolences can be shared with Maurice’s family at www.hammillfh.com.
