A Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred V. Wendt, 92, formerly of Brasher Falls, will be celebrated Friday April 23, 2010 at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls at 10AM with Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating. Burial will take place at St. Patrick Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Thursday from 4-7pm. Following the committal, friends are invited to join her family at the American Legion in Winthrop.
Mrs. Wendt passed away Wednesday April 14, 2010 at the Monroe Community Hospital located in Rochester, where she currently resided.
Mildred is survived by her children; two daughters, Janet Selz of Detroit, MI, Trudy and Ben Vigil of Rochester. Grandchildren, Kim Sheen of Glendale, AZ, Terri Duda of Atlanta, GA, Renee Prisciandaro of Rochester Hills, MI, John Patraw of Colton, NY, Kelly Hitchman of Hannawa Falls, NY and Jamie Goulet of Rochester, NY. 12 Great-Grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard A. Wendt who passed away on May 8, 1999, three daughters, Patricia Patraw, who passed away on November 17, 1984, and infants Sylvia Wendt, and Mary Wendt, her siblings, Roy Tucker, Joseph Tucker, Harrison Tucker, Catherine Wendt, and Ethel Stark.
Mildred was born February 25, 1918 in Winthrop to the late Henry and Lula (McGregor) Brothers. She attended Brasher-Stockholm schools. On July 30, 1940 she married Leonard A. Wendt at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Fr. Cotter officiating.
Mildred was a devoted homemaker. She was a member of the Winthrop Grange, the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, and the Tri-Town Senior Citizens.
