January 1, 1921 — January 5, 2015

Dickinson Center – Mr. Milton “Bae” Smith, 93, passed away Monday January 5, 2015. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Bae was born on October 16, 1921 in Dickinson Center to the late Douglas and Maude (Ross) Smith. He was raised and educated locally from Dickinson School. On September 17, 1945, Milton married the love of his life, Irene McCullough, in Brushton. The two raised their home and family together, sharing a devoted union of 68 years, filled with hard work, faith, and love. Irene passed away on July 27, 2014. Blessed with skilled hands and a good work ethic, Milton worked construction for most of his life, working mainly for Hackett’s Construction based out of Massena. Bae was known for his quick wit and humor. He also enjoyed spending time building and repairing things. His greatest joy however, was spending time with his family and friends. He truly enjoyed spending his time with the ones he loved most. He is survived by his children, Gary and Sandy Smith of Connecticut, Susan and Michael Kelley of Brushton, Karen and John Tice of Saranac Lake, and Diane and Charlie Dimick of Brushton, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter. Always close to his heart is the memory of his wife, Irene, a son Edward, and his brothers and sisters, Olive Williams, Wilfred Smith, Woodrow Smith, Wendell Smith, and Edith Smith who predeceased him. In following expressed wishes, services will be held privately at the convenience of Milton’s family. For those wishing to honor Milton’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Tri-Lakes Human Society in Saranac Lake.
