Sadly, for family and friends, Nancy Kathryn O’Neil transitioned on April 8, 2020. She will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit, her infectious smile, her tender heart, and her patient, gentle, and compassionate nature that she showered on countless many. Nancy was a lifelong intuitive and dedicated nurse, graduating from St. Clare’s School of Nursing, Manhattan, NY before expanding her skills and medical acumen by pursuing a career in a variety of medical facilities, including: Boston’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear; Veterans' Administrations in Little Rock, AR and Syracuse, NY; Manhattan’s Sloan Kettering; and the SUNY Upstate New York Poison Control Center, from which she retired after 20 years of service.
Surviving Nancy are the closest members of her family: sister, JoAnn Coria of Syracuse; her adored niece, Micaela Coria of Austin, TX; her dear cousin, Mary Jane Monsour of Syracuse, and her faithful feline companion, Panther. In addition, Nancy loved her remaining cousins, her ‘extended family’ of devoted friends, cherished co-workers, and her uplifting care-givers, especially the comfort all gave during the last few months of her life.
Nancy was predeceased by her mother and father, Josie and Daniel O’Neil, and her beloved older brother, Danny O’Neil. Nancy nursed both her mother and brother through their long illnesses and was with both during their final moments. Those closest to Nancy will know she was a devoted cat rescuer, held a special place in her heart for the first signs of Spring, and that she adored the color purple. In Nancy’s memory, gifts may be made to the Friends Forever Animal Rescue. Internment will be private.
