Philip Frederick Lawrence born on November 24, 1929 to Elva and Frederick Lawrence, died August 2nd peacefully, surrounded by his family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
He is survived by wife Geraldine (Hale); son, Frederick and Geneva Lawrence, Bradenton, FL, and grandson Freddy Lawrence, wife Lysette, great granddaughter Giovanna, Hollywood, FL; daughter Debra and Dale Jackson, and grandson Daniel, Clearwater, FL. He is also survived by his sister, Elva Lawrence Pritty, Gouverneur, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by brothers, Earl and Harold Kelsey and sister, Thelma Lawrence Moe.
He was born and grew up in the Talcville, Gouverneur area. He joined the Navy during the Korean War, and married his wife, Geraldine of 60 years in 1954. He was a long time member of Local 545 Operating Engineers. He worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway in the 1950's and Nine Mile 1 and 2 nuclear plants in the 1970's and 80's. He retired in 1990 and spent winters in Fl with his family, and summers at his home in Brasher Falls. He loved to hunt and play golf with friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his beautiful smile.
Visitation will be Saturday from 12 to 3 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, with his funeral service commencing at 3 pm. Burial will be in Hale Cemetery in Norfolk.
