Colton – Richard M. Cudlipp, 63, passed away Monday February 1, 2016 unexpectedly at Canton Potsdam Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Rick was born on May 23, 1952 in Potsdam, son of the late Dr. Ralph L. and Mary Ruth (Flannery) Cudlipp, Jr. He graduated from St. Lawrence Central School and attended Ulster Community College then North Country Community College. He worked at ALCOA then joined the Potsdam Police Department, for nine years. He went to work for Niagara Mohawk as a tree trimmer, with his last position as a Distribution Inspector.
His passion in life was hunting. He liked to hunt in different locations of the world but really enjoyed the hunting trips to Alaska and Ohio. He received two NRA Big Game Hunter Awards: one for Trophy Class Brown Bear in Alaska and the other for a Trophy Class Moose in Newfoundland.
He was a member of the Stag Club, a member of the Elks Lodge in Massena, a past member of the Colton Fire Dept. and the St. Lawrence County Dive Team. He supported the 2nd Amendment, as an Endowment Member of the NRA .
Rick was predeceased by his father in 1971, his mother in 1972 and his brother, Ralph L. Cudlipp III (Ralphie) in 1954 at the age of 4.
Following Rick's wishes there will be no calling hours. His Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 13th at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls at 10am. Burial will be with his family at St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls.
