Massena - Robert Henry Stevens, 82 a resident of the Highland Nursing Home, formerly of Malone, NY, died Friday afternoon at the nursing home. Mr. Stevens had been a resident of the nursing home since July.

Robert was born in Ft. Covington, NY on July 4, 1928, the son of the late William and Emily (Quimet) Stevens. He attended school locally within the Ft. Covington area. He married Mary Rushlow September 11, 1954, after 50 yrs of marriage, and she predeceased him November 9, 2005. Robert was a mail carrier for 30 years, retiring in 1998.
He is survived by his children Henry and his wife Eyvette Stevens of Nicholville; Cathy and her husband Arnald Ashlaw; Cynthia Perry and her companion Mario Willoby; Brenda and her husband Karl Antwine; Christine and her husband Christopher Wallenhorst all of Massena; Cheryl and her husband Fred Wilson III of Moira. Also suriving Robert are two sisters and one brother; Delores Burnell of Arizona; Joyce Stevens of Quebec; Bonita Rouselle of Childwold; Eugene Stevens of California; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren also survive Mr. Stevens.
He is predeceased by a son Bruce (Bucky) Stevens who died May 21, 2005 and three brothers Francis, John, Robert James.
Robert loved spending time with family and friends. Bowling, Fishing, working on vehicles, camping, and listening to blue grass music were some of his many enjoyments in life.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 at the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday morning at 10:00am at St. Lawrence Church, North Lawrence.
If one chooses to do so, memorial contributions in honor of Robert may be made to a charity of one's choice.
