Ruth F. Douglas, age 83, a life resident of Brasher Falls, passed away on Tuesday November 10, 2009 at the Highland Nursing Home. Born in Massena on August 27, 1926, Ruth was the daughter of the late Roy and Mabel (Currier) LaTrace. Raised and educated locally, on March 5, 1944 she married Walter J. Douglas Jr. at St. Patrick's Church, Brasher Falls, he predeceased Ruth on June 24, 1982. She was a devoted homemaker, for her husband and two sons Rodney and Roy. Ruth was the epitome of a good soul, showing kindness, and thoughtfulness, to her family, and her church as a reflection of God's love. For many years Ruth taught Sunday school at the Victory Baptist Church, Stockholm, where she was instrumental in cultivated the young minds of children, by sharing, God's Holy word.
Ruth is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-laws Rodney and Fern Douglas of Massena; Roy and Vickie Douglas of Mitchell Indiana; Five grandchildren Alex Douglas; Molly Douglas; Heidi and her husband Patrick French; Serena Bouden; Katrina and her husband Jacob Gillespie; Five Great Grandchildren Jayden and Jonas French; Willow Bouden; Walter and Zoey Gillespie. Also surviving Ruth is her sister Mary Curtis of Florence Kentucky.
She is also predeceased by two sisters Gloria Merrill and Carol Tippie.

Funeral services honoring the life of Ruth will be held Friday at 2:00 PM. Ruth's sons Rodney and Roy will lead family and friends in a time of prayer and remembrance at the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Visitation will be held Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at the Hammill Funeral Home.
Interment will commence immediately follow the funeral at the Union Cemetery, Buckton, weather permitting.
