Santo Seminatore

Santo Michael Seminatore, 85, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Sunrise of Cascade, while under the care of Emmanuel Hospice in Grand Rapids, MI

Santo was born in Rochester on June 7, 1935, to Carrie (Coniglio) and Michael Seminatore. He graduated from East High School in 1957 and Oswego State Teachers College in 1961 with a degree in education. He worked at Hoover Drive Middle School where he met his wife of 50 years Joan (Fuel) They were married on June 23, 1962, at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Rochester., and Santo went to serve his country in the Army Corp of Engineers in April 1963. He served with the 20th Combat Engineer Battalion, earning the Vietnam Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Once discharged in 1966, he began his career as an Industrial Arts Teacher at St. Regis Falls Central School, during his tenure he coached Boys & Girls JV Basketball and Varsity Boys Soccer. He taught until his retirement in June 1997.

He enjoyed spending time with Joan and their three grandchildren as well as camping and visiting friends. His beloved wife Joan passed away in 2012. He was fortunate to meet and marry Eillen St. Pierre sharing many wonderful experiences snow birding between their home in Michigan and their home in Florida. Santo was a selfless person often helping those less fortunate many times without their knowledge. He was a favorite teacher at St. Regis Falls School and had many wonderful friends who he considered family. He loved drawing, painting and building things. He never met a peanut butter jar he didn't like! His grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to discuss them and their achievements. He was loved by anyone who met him and will be missed deeply.

He was predeceased by his brother Arc Angelo Seminatore in 2007 and his sister, Angelina Perri in 2020. He is survived by his son Mark (Erin) Seminatore of Washington and his daughter Kim (Fred) Deshane of Winthrop, NY. His wonderful grandchildren, Patrick Seminatore of Washington, Matthew Seminatore of Washington and Emily Deshane as well as her fiancé Zach Chapman of Winthrop, and his wife Eileen St. Pierre of Michigan.

Family is planning for Santo's funeral services to held in the spring.  We will update this obituary when services are finalized.
