Winthrop – Shaun M. O'Brien, 37, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love and care of his family and hospice on December 28, 2015.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Shaun was born in Massena on September 7, 1978 to Robert C. and Penelope "Penny" S. (Tehon) O'Brien. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from Massena High School, then continuing at SUNY at Canton. On June 1, 2002 he married his soul mate Dorothy "DeeDee" Martinez in Massena. Together they shared a loving relationship along with many days of riding motorcycles together and with the kids.
He worked as an electrician for ALCOA and was a member of IBEW Local #910. In his free time, he enjoyed cooking, shooting and helping to arrange charity motorcycle runs for various organizations.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, 2 sons, Gavin Luis O'Brien and stepson Tyler Michael Pryce, both at home, brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Allyson O'Brien of North Lawrence, his parents, Robert and Penny O'Brien of Winthrop, his father and mother-in-law, Rafael and Barbara Martinez of Winthrop, many relatives and friends.
Following Shaun's wishes; there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the Norwood American Legion, time will be posted at a later date.
