Saranac Lake/Parishville- Ms. Vicky L. Champney, 64 passed away Tuesday May 30, 2017 at CVPH in Plattsburgh comforted by the love and support of her sister Bonnie at her side. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Vicky was born on July 12, 1952 to the late Herbert and Audrey (Casselman) Champney. She graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton Central School and attended Canton ATC.
Vicky proudly served her country in the US NAVY, earning an honorable discharge in 1973. She was a member of the American Legion Post 514 in Winthrop where she served as past treasurer and dedicated many years as member of the honor guard.
She was a delivery courier for UPS for many years until she became disabled following a brain aneurism. Vicky was the first woman driver in the Potsdam center. She loved driving and enjoyed all the customers she served.
Everyone who met Vicky loved her. She always had a smile no matter what she felt like and she was a loyal friend to those who knew her.
She has spent the last six years in Saranac Lake near her sister, Bonnie (Roy) Rosenbarker who survives her. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Sharon Champney; nephews, Brian Champney and Todd Rosenbarker; nieces, Patsy (Ron) Reid, Nichole Corrigan, and Terri (Jeff) Lewin; plus many grand nieces and nephews.
Always close to Vicky’s heart is the memory of those who predeceased her; her parents, Herbert and Audrey Champney and her brother, Terry Champney.
A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held Saturday June 3rd at 10:00am at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Parishville.
A memorial service will be celebrated the following day Sunday June 4th at 2:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Saranac Lake.
