Wilbur W. Scott

Lawrence - Wilbur W. Scott, Jr., 82, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, in the comfort of his home. He was born on July 4, 1929 in Hawthorne, NJ, son of the late Wilber and Angela Bellows Scott. He went to Buckton Schools and graduated from North Lawrence High School, where he played football and basketball. He attended Canton ATI, was a member of the Zeta Alpha Phi Fraternity and the Athletic Club, and graduated with a degree in Agriculture. He returned to his family farm and operated it until his retirement. He was a member of the Farmer's Co-OP for many years. He is survived by his sister in law, Barbara Scott ; his kids, Frank Scott, Robert Scott, John Scott, Randy Newtown, Cynthia Small, Karen Schrimpsher, Sherrill Hahn, Kathy Hazleton and Shelley Scott and their children. He was predeceased by one brother, Robert Myron Scott in 1971and one sister, Joyce Gladys Scott, in infancy. Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A Funeral Service will be Wednesday morning at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Buckton. In lieu of floral offerings, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, Inc. or Tri Town Rescue Squad.
