A Mass of Christian Burial for William J. Curtis, 77, of Winthrop, will be Wednesday at 10 am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls. His family will receive friends at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls.
Mr. Curtis passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse.
He is survived by his wife, Cecelia "Sally; his daughter and son in law, Jane and Jacques "Jack" Monica of Central Square; one sister, Eleanor Polowchena of Hannawa Falls; several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Alton C. and Elmer S. and three sisters, Catherine A. LaBrake, Julia Weber and Blanche C. Curtis, predeceased him.
William was born on January 23, 1933 in the Town of Stockholm, son of the late Carroll A. and Jane A. Hourihan Curtis. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, and was a recipient of Service medal w/1 Bronze Star and Presidential Unit Citation. On August 16, 1958 he married Cecelia White in Massena. Mr. Curtis worked in the foundry at General Motors, retiring after 38 years.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls.
