Nicholville – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Mr. William F. Votra Sr., 56, who passed away on Thursday December 5, 2024, at the Canton – Potsdam Hospital with his family by his side.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop where visitation will be held on Tuesday December 10 from 4 – 7 PM.
The youngest of 6, Bill was born in Potsdam on March 4, 1968, to the late Willard and Erma (Michaud) Votra. He attended St. Regis Falls and Parishville Schools.
He was a talented painter in the construction industry and at one time was a member of the painter’s union.
Throughout his life Bill was a vibrant individual with a heart that was larger than life itself. He had a warm generous spirit and a contagious sense of humor.
His passion for life extended beyond work; he loved to socialize and enjoy the nightlife, becoming a master of barroom sports engaging friends and strangers alike in friendly competition and laughter. His generosity and willingness to help others made a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Bill enjoyed every single adventure life had to offer him, and he truly touched every life he encountered.
He will be greatly missed by his family, especially his 3 sons, William Votra Jr. and his companion Patti-Ann Strait of Hopkinton, Brandon and Aleya Votra of South Colton, and Connor Votra of Hopkinton; a grandson Baby Boy Votra who is due in February; siblings, Terry Joannette and companion Pam Johnson, Brenda Campbell, Tom and Becky Votra, Monica Deragon and companion Jeff Underwood, and Timmy and Deb Votra; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents Bill was predeceased by his step – father Roy Michaud, brother – in – law George Campbell and nephew Jordan Campbell.
