In 1945, she joined the U.S. Army near the end of WWII, and was stationed in Saipan, then Korea, stopping in Japan enroute after Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombing. Her family reflected on one Sunday morning as Halcyon was leaving for church and caught their pet skunk, "Shot Gun's, tail in the door and consequently did not make it to church that Sunday. They had a joyful country life in St. Regis Falls. Halcyon, loved the Adirondack outdoors, picking berries, camping, fishing and also enjoyed traveling and camping in PEI, Nova Scotia and North Carolina with their travel companions, the Rockhills and Susices. Elmer predeceased her in 1997. Halcyon is survived by 2 sons, Thomas and his wife Karen Pondysh, of St. Regis Falls, Dale Pondysh of Nicholville, and daughter, Carol Rust of Clearwater, Florida. She has five grandchildren, Tonia, Ryan, Dustin, Allison and Coral, and four great grandchildren, Cassidy, Luke, Jacob, and Everett.
