Winthrop - A Funeral gathering for Barbara B. Clark, 82 of Winthrop, will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 AM at the home of her daughter Cheryl, with the Rev. Harold Wheat presiding. Calling hours will be held Thursday and Friday from 3-5 and 7-9 at the home of her daughter Cheryl Rabbitt on 50 Haack Road, Winthrop. Burial will be in Hopkinton - Ft. Jackson Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Mrs. Clark entered into rest Tuesday morning (January 5, 2010), with the love and support of her family at her side. Born December 14, 1927, in Norfolk, the daughter of the late Merlin C. and Edith (Trimm) Bandy. On May 24, 1948 she married Harold M. Clark, he passed away unexpectedly on November 24, 1969, at the age of 48. Being a strong courage woman, she raised her ten children. Barbara was remembered by family members as being a woman who could do anything. In her early forties, she received her GED, she was a ceramic teacher, painter, avid bird watcher, and a wonderful homemaker who had a natural love for the outdoors. She is beloved by her two sons and eight daughters; Harold M. and his wife Emma of St. Roberts Missouri; Donald and his wife Robin of Winthrop; Cheryl Rabbitt of Winthrop; Acelia and Pat Tyo of Smithville Ohio; Meredith and her husband Michael of Winthrop; Beth Borrowman of Liverpool, NY; Patricia Clark of Potsdam; Barbara Wynn of Shreveport, LA; and Kelley and her husband Richard Arnold of Carthage. Also surviving Barbara are three brothers Raymond Sirles of West Monroe; Harold Sirles of Verona, NY, Warren Sirles of Brasher Falls; two sisters Reta Clickner of Syracuse; Iva Brookman of North Carolina, aunt, Betty DeShane of Chase Mills and uncle Sterling Trimm of Winthrop, 29 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1992 her daughter Lola predeceased her, along with two brothers Vernon and Robert, and two sisters Phyllis and Marjorie. Memorials in her honor can be made to the Paul Smiths VIC, 2023 State Route 30, Paul Smiths, NY 12970.
