Hopkinton - William O. Frary, 69, passed away at his home Wednesday, April 13, 2011, with his family by his side. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Bill was born on April 27, 1941, in North Lawrence, son of the late Orville and Florence (Holmes) Frary. He served in the U. S. Army from July 1962 to March 1964, being stationed in Germany. On April 24, 1964, he married Shirley L. Newtown at St. Lawrence Church in North Lawrence. Shirley passed away February 22, 2011.
They made their home in North Lawrence, where Bill worked at Kraft Foods for 35 years and also drove milk truck for Keith Prosper Trucking for many years. He was past Chief and Honorary Member of the North Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed working on lawn mowers and other equipment with a passion for John Deere products; spending time with his family, the outdoors and camping.
Bill is survived by three sons, Scott and Penny Frary of North Lawrence, Dean and LeeAnn Frary of Hopkinton, and Kelly Frary of Dannemora; one daughter, Terri Lyn Hastings and Steve Beatty of Nicholville ; seven grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and one on the way; six sisters, Diane and Ed Richards of South Carolina, Bev and Robert Riehle of Winthrop, Bonnie Monroe of Norfolk, Evelyn and Gary Saumier of Brasher Falls, Linda VanAtter of Potsdam, and Ruthie and Richard Farrell of Hannibal; one brother, Terry Frary of Norfolk; several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife Shirley and one infant son William, two brothers, Richard and Danny predeceased him.
His family will receive friends at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Saturday from 6 to 8pm with a service at 8pm. Burial will be in Hopkinton-Ft. Jackson Cemetery in Hopkinton.
In lieu of flowers, Bill's requests are for donations to be made to the Nicholville Volunteer Fire Department or Tri Town Rescue Squad.
