Brasher Falls – Roy “Steve” Snyder, 74, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2023, at his home. At the time of his passing, his niece Kim Willis and his brother David, Sammy, Terrance, and Jamie were with him. Following his wishes, his family will honor his life with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 20th at 2 pm at his home. Arrangements are entrusted with Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Steve was born on December 11, 1948, in Potsdam, son of the late Roy J. and Vera (Phillips) Snyder. He married Debra Harder, and they had four children together, but separated in 1989. She predeceased him in 2007. His life partner, Carla Jebo shared a life together and had a daughter. He had certifications in plumbing and drafting in 1968, and worked at various places farming, security at the power authority, custodian at the school for 5 years and has worked at Tri Town Arena for 20 years until he retired. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing chess, collecting scrap metal where he got his nickname “Fred” Sandford & Son, and loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his partner, Carla Jebo, his children, Terrance and Jamie Snyder of Brasher Falls, Robert Snyder and Arlena Rainwater of North Lawrence, Samuel Snyder of Brasher Falls, Candace and Garett Blair of Massena, grandchildren, Cody Snyder, Sonya Snyder and her fiancé Nick Mariano, Ian Snyder, Zachary Snyder and his fiancé, Brooke White, Ciera Snyder and Tyler Jones, Devin Merritt, Kyler Judware, Chad Snyder, Emma Snyder, Adrian Regan, Anais Blair and Thalia Blair, great grandchildren, Kaleb, Rowena, Elliott, Peyton, Nuala, and Hudson, his siblings, Henry and Jane Snyder of Potsdam, David and Mellissa Snyder, a sister in law, Lori Snyder of Massena, many nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by a daughter, Tina Snyder, siblings, Linda Gravelle, Carla Peters, Mike Snyder and Dana Snyder.
