David M. Foster

July 23, 1938 — June 23, 2011

North Lawrence - David Morton Foster, Sr. age 72, passed away Thursday (6/23/11) morning. Mr. Foster had been a resident of the Franklin County Nursing Home since April, where he received excellent care from the entire nursing home staff. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. David was born July 23, 1938 in Potsdam, son the late Clifford and Doris (Carrol) Foster. He was educated locally through the Parishville Hopkinton Schools. On June 27, 1964 he married Loretta Santimaw on Fall Island in Potsdam. Prior to his retirement with the town of Lawrence he worked many jobs; one could say he was a "Jack of all trades". He is survived by his wife Loretta; a daughter Deanna Foster of Malone, and a son David M. Foster, Jr. Also surviving David are four grandchildren; three brothers, Larry, and Glen both of Hannawa Falls, Gordon of Syracuse; a sister Joan Hartzel of Central Square. He is predeceased by his brother Robert. David loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed camping, and took pleasure in taking care of his lawn. The simple things in life were what mattered most, especially the companionship of his dog Ranger. In keeping with David wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
