Barbara passed away Tuesday, March 09, 2010 at Massena Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Adam Paul; one son Jeff Males of California, two sisters, Anna Dugan of Albany and Christina Miller of Brasher Falls. One son, Adam William Males (4/1/2003) and one brother, Frank Miller, predeceased her.
Barbara was born on July 3, 1945 in Albany, daughter of the late Frank and Anna Chmielewski Miller. She attended Albany schools. Barbara began a career at Kemper Insurance Company, with a loving interruption as a homemaker and mother with her husband, Adam Paul and her sons, Jeffrey Paul and Adam William. Later, Barbara thoroughly enjoyed her career as a USDA Federal Meat Inspector for 20 years, earning various awards for her untiring diligence during that time, until retiring for health reasons.
As secretary of the Potsdam Lions Club, Barbara served on several fundraising committees, including the popular Radio Day. Compassion, kindness and a lively sense of humor marked Barb's personality and made her a distinct pleasure to be with. She is most assuredly missed by her many friends, former colleagues and family. Her family reflected it was delightful knowing her, and her enjoyment of life while she was here.
Her family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Alston and staff of Claxton-Hepburn Cancer Center in Ogdensburg, Massena Memorial Hospital and Emergency staff, and Tri Town Rescue Squad for their gentle care and support during this difficult transition from active life to a time of rest.
Memorials in her name can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, Inc., 6805 US Hwy 11, Potsdam, NY 13676.
